Seven Elementary School Kids Hospitalized After Eating Pot Brownies

LA Times — Pupils who shared a pot brownie Tuesday at an Orange County elementary school wound up requiring medical attention, authorities said. A sixth-grade boy brought the laced pastry to Pomona Elementary School in Costa Mesa and then shared it with six classmates in the school library and on the playground, Costa Mesa Fire Department Battalion Chief Fred Seguin said. Some of the students reported feeling nauseous and difficulty breathing and all seven were taken to Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach for treatment, Seguin and police said. The six boys and one girl were then released to their parents. “Luckily, all seven of the students who were taken to the hospital are going to be OK,” Pomona Principal Megan Brown said in an email to parents. Only the boy who brought the brownie to school knew it was laced, according to Seguin.
