The 56th annual GRAMMY Awards are airing in just over thirty minutes (8pm EST). One of the most talked about categories was the Best Rap Album which featured a battle royale between Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (The Heist), Kendrick lamar (good kid, m.A.A.d city), Drake (Nothing Was the Same), JAY Z (MCHG) and Kanye West (YEEZUS).
Before the show airs though, many of the winners have been announced, including Macklemore & Ryan Lewis cleaning house in the rap genre by collecting, Best Rap Performance ("Thrift Shop"), Best Rap Song ("Thrift Shop") and Best Rap Album (The Heist).
Since the nominations were released weeks back, the hip hop worlds been debating Macklemore's position in the category. The committee even almost left them off the ballot entirely. But that didn't stop the Seattle duo from striking gold.
