Justin Tuck’s Ready To Punch Teammates In The Mouth For Tom Coughlin

Daily News – Tom Coughlin wouldn’t second-guess himself on a crucial fourth down decision, but Victor Cruz did it for him, a painful indication this hugely disappointing Giants season has fallen apart at woe-and-four with the potential for it to get even worse. So far, the locker room has not turned on Coughlin. “If anyone turns on our coach, I would be the first one to punch him in the mouth,” Justin Tuck told the Daily News. “And put that in print. It better not happen, I know that.” Cruz was not turning on Coughlin, but it is the first time a player has publicly questioned him since the glory days of Tiki Barber. Cruz didn’t like Coughlin’s decision not to go for it on fourth down late in the third quarter with the Giants down just 10-7. Tuck admitted on the sideline, “Every defensive player wanted him to go for it. That is why we probably will never be coaches. That would have been a stupid move. Even if you get it, it would still be a stupid move.” “I thought we should have gone for it on that fourth down,” Cruz said. “It’s coach’s call at the end of the day.” From their own 30 down three? “If it was me? Yes. Because we had the momentum,” Cruz said. “I felt it was a yard, not even a yard, half a yard, we’ve got to take a risk at some point and make something happen.” Tuck said anyone who thinks Coughlin should have gone for it is “an idiot.” Does that make Cruz an idiot? “When it comes to coaching, yeah,” he said. “We’re idiots, too,” he said. “Who goes on fourth and inches at the 30 when you’re in a dogfight?”
