NFL Teams Consider Having Police Experts Check Prospects’ Tattoos For Gang Ties

CBS- In the wake of Aaron Hernandez’s first-degree murder charge, National League Football teams might take a closer look at the tattoos of prospects entering the NFL draft. CBS Sports reports that teams may have police experts look at NFL hopefuls’ tattoos after there was concern Hernandez’s tattoos were gang-related. “Spoke (with) longtime NFL personnel man who said in wake of Aaron Hernandez teams may use police experts to check prospects tattoos,” CBS Sports columnist Bruce Feldman posted on Twitter. Earlier this month, the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office said it appears Hernandez’s multiple tattoos show no sign of gang affiliations. “We always take extra precautions. We don’t have any definite issues at this point, but we’re still being very cautious,” Sheriff Thomas Hodgson told the Boston Herald.
