Michael Strahan Lands 'Live!' Co-Host Gig Alongside Kelly Ripa: Report; Ex-New York Giant Would Keep Sunday Football Gig On Fox Sports, Too

Ex-New York Giant defensive end Michael Strahan will be tackling something new - the fulltime cohosting gig on “Live!" alongside Kelly Ripa.

After an exhaustive search for a co-host on the ABC morning show, the 40-year-old Strahan will be officially named on Sept. 7, Broadcasting & Cable magazine reports.

Ripa has been without a permanet partner since Regis Philbin retired from the show last November.

Fifty nine guest hosts sat next to her in the time since - including “SNL” vet Seth Myers, comedian Jerry Seinfeld and NY1’s Pat Kiernan.

The LA Times reported that Strahan plans to keep his football analyst position at Fox Sports on Sundays for the upcoming season. It may be tricky as the “Fox NFL Sunday” studio is in Los Angeles, while “Live!” films during the week in New York.
