Denis Leary Shared An Insane ‘Amazing Spider-Man 3′ Rumor At Comic Con
VIA: The world of The Amazing Spider-Man film series is no more. We’ve gotten Marc Webb’s take on its demise, but others still seem to be talking about it for reason (most likely because it includes their roles). Denis Leary is the guy spreading rumors now, and it’s possibly a sign that Marvel’s deal with Sony was a blessing. The comedian sat down with IGN at Comic-Con and brought up the interesting direction the film was looking to take:
Possibly in 3, there was this idea at one point that Spider-Man would be able to take this formula and regenerate the people in his life that had died. So, there was this discussion that Captain Stacy would come back even bigger in episode 3.”
He also tosses out, jokingly, that he’s selfish and greedy, so maybe it was just a ploy to pump up his importance in the film. Still, this storyline would present several possibilities for the film. The most obvious, given Webb’s hint about Venom, would be the creation of the alien symbiote or suit that created Venom in the Ultimate Comics series. Instead of a meteor or the Secret Wars event as we’ve seen before, Ultimate Venom was created in a lab.
The other, more dastardly possibility as pointed out by Birth.Movies.Death. is the introduction of the Clone Saga into the Spider-Man film series. As someone who lived through the clone saga, attempted to follow the clone saga, and then eventually gave up to go outside, this is a horrible idea. If you were already turned off of The Amazing Spider-Man series for one reason or another, tossing in some clones is a good way to completely ruin everything.
But back to Leary for a moment. If his character, Captain Stacey, would’ve been brought back bigger and better, does that mean he’s more important than Uncle Ben, his daughter Gwen, and Aunt May’s dearly departed dog Ms. Lion?
